TWMCC Organises Virtual Lecture Entitled “Human Development: The True Path to Building Societies”
- 2026-Jan-24
The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) organised a virtual lecture presented by Princess Evelyn Bright, Founder of Levin Africa Ltd and CEO of Levin Academy, an economic and social activist, and a member of the Global Pan-African Movement from Uganda, entitled: “Human Development: The True Path to Building Societies.”
During the lecture, Princess Evelyn
Bright emphasised that education constitutes a fundamental pillar in the
advancement of African societies, stressing the need to develop and elevate standards
to keep pace with the rapid transformations the world is currently witnessing.
She explained that children today face
increasing challenges related to the decline of societal values and ethics,
driven by the accelerating pace of life and technological progress. She further
noted that high birth rates represent an additional burden on families,
potentially limiting their ability to provide high-quality education for their
children.
She also pointed out that the Muslim
community in East Africa is one of the largest in the region and is
experiencing remarkable and rapid growth. This expansion, she noted, calls for
the strengthening of developmental and educational efforts to remain in step
with such growth.
Princess Bright clarified that developing
the educational system is not limited to updating curricula; it also involves instilling
moral and pedagogical values within educational institutions. She
emphasised that advancing the education sector in East Africa requires the
integration of roles between governments and community-based organisations.
In conclusion, she added that the
family—and particularly the role of parents within the home—has a fundamental
influence on the intellectual and moral upbringing of children. She cited the
Chinese experience as a successful model that could be utilised to
further develop children’s education in the region.
