TWMCC Holds 'Islamic Education in South Africa' Online Lecture

The World Muslim Communities Council , held an online lecture, titled 'Islamic Education in South Africa', presented by, Thulani (Zaid) Vincent Langa, President of Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema (South African Branch) and Deputy Ameer of Gauteng Muslim Shura Council, South Africa, within TWMCC’s series of lectures.
During the lecture, Thulani (Zaid) Vincent Langa, said: 'Muslims in South Africa have established Islamic institutes to educate their children, and we have institutions in mosques to teach the Holy Quran, and many sheikhs have dedicated their lives to teaching the Holy Quran to students.'
He added: 'We have many Islamic schools in Cape Town and other provinces in South Africa, and we have the Islamic institutions authority, which is responsible for guiding and setting a strategy for these schools.'
The President of Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema (South African Branch) and Deputy Ameer of Gauteng Muslim Shura Council, South Africa, explained: 'We have many independent Islamic institutions, and Muslim communities in South Africa have established advocacy centres for new Muslims, to teach them Islamic curricula.'
Furthermore, he pointed out that 'education in South Africa is expensive, and there are high poverty rates, so Islamic institutions help students to learn.'
TWMCC is an international non-governmental organisation that functions as a think tank. It supports Muslim community organisations and associations by helping them improve their operations, collaborate effectively, and adopt innovative approaches.
