World Muslim Communities Council condemned the terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing dozens of innocent victims.
The World Muslim Communities Council expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the attack on the two mosques , the New Zealand government and its citizens. May God Almighty have mercy on them and grant their families patience and solace.
The Council stressed in a statement that the targeting of terrorists to innocent people in places of worship in the world proves the seriousness of the extremist ideology of the other, which undermines all human values, calling for the need to immunize societies from the danger of this thought.
The Council appealed to the international community, the world and all activists to take the necessary measures in order to stop the waves of extremism and hate speech around the world, stressing the need to cooperate and coordinate together to root out terrorism.
In the light of the growing phenomenon of terrorism and hatred of the other, the World Muslim Communities Council calls on the international community to criminalise hatred of others, which is based on hatred of religion by activating UN resolution 65/224 of 11 April 2011, which criminalises contempt of religions.
The World Muslim Communities Council is a non-governmental Organisation established by more than 600 institutions in 142 countries and based in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
