Osman Bakar: Islam Exposed To Many Difficulties But Succeeded in Spreading

The World Muslim Communities Council organised a virtual lecture on Friday, June 2, 2023, entitled 'Mathematics of Southeast Asian Islam' presented by Emeritus Prof. Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar Holder of Al-Ghazali Chair of Epistemology and Civilisational Studies and Renewal at ISTAC-IIUM.
Emeritus Prof. Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar Holder of Al-Ghazali Chair of Epistemology and Civilisational Studies and Renewal at ISTAC-IIUM, said that he studied mathematics at the University of London, majoring in algebra, and got Ph.D.
Bakar added that he had read many books on religions and deepened into the study of religions in Asia and the sciences of Islamic civilisation, emphasising that Islamic civilisation is full of researchers and scholars in all fields, such as Al Razi and Ibn Sina.
Bakar explained that he wrote many books and translated them into several languages, focusing on the issue of theism and knowledge.
Bakar mention that Muslims were exposed to some pressures at the beginning when integrating with the rest of society within some countries in Asia, while now there has been a great integration of Muslims within societies and they are present within government organisations significantly.
He ensured that there is great tolerance and coexistence between Muslims and the rest of society in East Asia and anyone can see this obviously, and there is a great diversity of architecture in Malaysia and this is obvious in the shapes of the different buildings and mosque minarets.
Bakar said that the Islamic religion was exposed to many pressures and difficulties, but it didn't stop and succeeded in continuing and spreading.
It is noteworthy that The World Muslim Communities Council is an international non-governmental organisation that was established on May 8, 2018. It is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and has more than 900 Islamic organisations and institutions from 142 countries under it. It is considered a house of expertise to rationalise organisations and associations operating in Muslim societies, renew their thinking and improve their performance, and coordination among themselves.
