TWMCC Organises Virtual Lecture Entitled 'Islamic Education Movements in South Africa'

On Sunday, 30 October 2022, The World Muslim Communities Council organised a virtual lecture by Thulani (Zaid) Vincent Langa, president of Mohammed VI Foundation of Africa Oulema, South African branch & Deputy Ameer of Gauteng Muslim Shura Council, South Africa, under the title 'Islamic Education Movements in South Africa'.
Thulani (Zaid) Vincent Langa said that education in South Africa was based on home education before colonialism, then Muslims established institutes and schools to educate South Africans, and this contributed to spreading the teachings of the Islamic religion in South Africa.
The President of the Mohammed VI Foundation of Africa Oulema, South African branch & Deputy Ameer of Gauteng Muslim Shura Council, South Africa, added that the Islamic institutions focused on curricula and knowledge in order to establish a good foundation for children and their memorisation of the Holy Qur’an at a young age, Muslim societies in South Africa also established Da'wah Centre to support all Muslims, especially the new ones.
Vincent Langa emphasised that Muslims in South Africa were interested in higher education as well, and there are many institutes, led by Dar Al Uloom, and major universities in South Africa such as Cape Town offer Islamic studies, pointing out that the Islamic Institutions Authority in South Africa is responsible for providing guidance to schools.
It is noteworthy that The World Muslim Communities Council is an international non-governmental organisation that was established on 8 May 2018, and is based in Abu Dhabi and includes more than 900 Islamic organisations and institutions from 142 countries. and considered a house of expertise for rationalising organisations and associations operating in Muslim societies, renewing their thinking, improving their performance, and coordinating among them.
