Sheikh Dr. Salim Alwan: Lylat Al-Qadr Not Required to be on Odd Nights*

Among the daily Ramadan episodes, The World Muslim Communities Council organized, on Monday, April 25, 2022, a virtual episode entitled “Lylat Al-Qadr and Zakat”, during which Sheikh Dr. Salim Alwan, Secretary-General of Dar Al-Fatwa, Australia, spoke via the Council's social media pages.
Sheikh Dr. Salim Alwan said that Allah Almighty said, “Whoever of you witnesses the month, let him fast,” as the Messenger, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, “, "Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven”, which proves that Ramadan is the best of months.
The Secretary-General of Dar Al-Fatwa in Australia added that Laylat Al-Qadr is great importance, explaining that it is not required to be in the odd nights, as the Holy Prophet said, “Search it in the last ten days of Ramadan.”
Alwan explained that zakat al-Fitr must be presented before the Eid prayer, and it is imposed on those who have surplus money, and its amount is a Hijazi Sāʿ, as it is imposed on those who have gold and silver, and have exceeded the quorum, with a Hijri year has passed, because it cleanses the fasting person from idle talk and amusement, and feeds the poor.
The Secretary-General of Dar Al-Fatwa Australia confirmed that zakat has many benefits, as it blesses the work and money of the Muslim, and brings happiness to his life, explaining that paying zakat is evidence of the perfection of faith, and that it is not permissible to pay zakat except to the eight categories mentioned in the Qur’an, “the poor, and the destitute, and those who administer them, and for reconciling hearts, and for freeing slaves, and for those in debt, and in the path of Allah, and for the homeless
