TWMCC Organizes Virtual Conference “Religions and Civilizations in Asia Pacific Rim: Legacy, Diversity and Prosperity”

 On Saturday, April 9, 2022, The World Muslim Communities Council organized the Virtual Conference “Religions and Civilizations in Asia Pacific Rim: Legacy, Diversity and Prosperity”, in which participated a number of personalities interested in the religions and civilizations such as His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of The World Muslim Communities Council, Mr. Xiao Wunan, Executive Vice President of the Asia Pacific Foundation for Exchange and Cooperation in China.


 Also participating in the conference were Dr. Othman Bakar, Al-Ghazali Chair of Epistemology and Civilizational Studies and Renewal ISTAC-IIUM, Malaysia, and Dr. Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of The World Muslim Communities Council. 


His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of The World Muslim Communities Council said that Muslims are trying to understand the causes of wars, stressing that Islam is a religion of peace and coexistence that calls for spreading peace and love among all.


 Al-Nuaimi added that they constantly focus on the coexistence between Muslims and others, pointing out that some take a verse or hadith and believe that this is Islam.


 The Chairman of the Council stressed that it is important to teach children how to flaunt their civilization but to be accompanied by respect for others civilizations at the same time.


His Excellency Mr. Xiao Wunan, Executive Vice Chairman of the Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation in China, said that he is happy to talk today about how to reach global peace during the current period of the Corona pandemic and the raging war between Russia and Ukraine, which has greatly affected the world.


 Wunan added that the Asian market has a great impact on the future of the world, but it needs a cooperation to build a prosperous world in this right time for dialogue to discover the great link between Islam and Buddhism. 


Dr. Othman Bakar, Al-Ghazali, Chair of Epistemology and Civilizational Studies and Renewal ISTAC-IIUM, Malaysia, explained that the challenges facing diversity will be the issues that will dominate the next century.


 Bakar said during that the diversity of religions is a social fact that we can all see. Looking at the religious map of the continent of Asia, we will find great diversity in religions, as religions and civilizations have a different philosophical perspective.


 Bakar stressed that racism and xenophobia are one of the extremist ideas that we suffer, and that we need to launch global initiatives for civilized harmony, as Islamic civilization is inspiring to all, especially since Islam is the seal of religions.


 At the conclusion of the conference, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of The World Muslim Communities Council, stressed that this conference comes at an important time, when everyone called for the need for humanity in addition to cooperation with followers of different religions.


 Bechari said that the most difficult thing we are currently facing is  our ignorance of the religion of the other, an ignorance that is not equal just illiteracy as some think, but rather it is a lack of awareness of the cultures of others, pointing to the need to be part of the solution and not part of the problem, and that The Council established to control extremism, and that the Council based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of tolerance, to send a message to all about the need for tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
