The conference "The Role of Muslim Women in the Renaissance of Albania" recommends the necessity to restore the image of women civilly

The World Muslim Communities Council in cooperation with the Albanian Islamic chiefdom and the Islamic studies department at Badr University organized the second International Conference on Islamic Studies (ISCON) entitled "The Role of the Muslim Women in the Renaissance of Albania - Opportunities and Challenges" on Thursday, 10 January 2019, in the Albanian capital city Tirana.

The conference participants presented important researches in which the researchers tackled the different intellectual, social, economic and political situations of Muslim women in Albania in the present era. The conference sessions were characterized by honest scientific interventions and various intellectual ideas; moreover, the conference provided an opportunity for meeting ideas and connecting intellectuals to discuss the important and urgent issues of Muslim women in the Republic of Albania.

The conference has reached a number of recommendations, most notably that Islam with its holy Quran and the Sunnah ( tradition) of the noble prophet took care of the Muslim women like a daughter, sister, mother and wife, furthermore, it gave her all the rights she deserves and safeguarded her from blackmail, abuse, exploitation and humiliation. Therefore, this misrepresentation of Islam that distorted the position of Islam on women must be corrected

The final statement of the conference also called for reviewing the intellectual heritage and re-studying the issues of contemporary Muslim women, furthermore, the need to amend and correct the cultural heritage and traditions that affect women and marginalize their role in society.

The statement called for serious efforts to correct and restore the image of the Muslim woman both culturally and informally through the diligence of the renewed scholars and intellectuals that committed to women's issues in the light of the challenges of the age and the need for cooperation and coordination with international women's organizations In order to promote the civilizational role of the Muslim women.

The conference recommended the need to encourage Muslim women to participate seriously in international forums to highlight the position of Islam on women and correct the concepts and the perceptions, as well as the empowerment of women at universities to promote scientific research.

The final statement discussed ways to protect women and their cultural and awareness-raising efforts against electronic exploitation, especially in the context of electronic recruitment; moreover, to improve the components of the family structure in order to preserve the family warmth. It assesses the limits of respect in the relationship between its members and maintains its structural system.

The conference also recommended the importance of encouraging Muslim women in Muslim communities to contribute in presenting a bright image of contemporary Muslim women and calling for a strategy to "activate the role of Muslim women in Muslim communities."

This event brought many scholars, imams, researchers, students of science and many other figures from different countries and cultures of the world together. They discussed the most important issues related to the role, rights and duties of women, in addition to the current major issues related to her personality from the Islamic religious point of view and the reality of community.

The conference has revolved around three themes: "Muslim Women in Modern Albania", "The Role of Women in the Renaissance of Albania (Education as a Model") and "The Role of Women in Social Peace in Albania".

The Conference on "The Role of Muslim Women in the Renaissance of Albania - Opportunities and Challenges" seeks to achieve several objectives, including activating the role of Muslim women in the building of modern Albania and promoting the values of tolerance and co-existence in the Albanian Republic, furthermore, highlighting the role of the complementary relationship between men and women in creating a model community system and paying attention to the most important obstacles facing women's progress in their society.

The World Muslim Communities Council is based in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, and has 60 members. Its secretariat consists of 17 members representing Muslim communities in non-Muslim countries around the world.

The Council aims at increasing the role of Muslim societies and their members in the renaissance of their civil, cultural and economic states, as well as to correct the stereotypical image of Islam and Muslim societies.
