The World Muslim Communities Council condemns the terrorist bombings targeting places of worship in Sri Lanka

The World Muslim Communities Council issued a statement condemning in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks on Sunday morning, 21 April 2019, targeting a number of churches and hotels in the capital city Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Council has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks that violated the sanctity of worship places and causing the death of completely innocent people; furthermore, the Council called on not letting such cowardly attacks to undermine Sri Lanka’s exemplary stability and coexistence.

The World Muslim Communities Council reiterated its confidence in the efforts of the Sri Lankan government to arrest perpetrators and bring them to justice. At the same time, it commended the cooperation of all components of the Sri Lankan people and their solidarity to counter terrorism that targets their country and society.

The Council expressed its condolences to the Government and the people of Sri Lanka for the victims of the terrorist incident, may their souls rest in peace and wish the injured speedy recovery.
