TWMCC Mourns the Passing of His Eminence Grand Mufti of Ethiopia Hajj Omar Idris

The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) mourns the passing of His Eminence Grand Mufti Haji Omar Idris, former President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia. TWMCC extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to the Ethiopian people, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and the Ethiopian Ulema Council on this great loss. The Grand Mufti was a model of a hardworking scholar and a dedicated preacher in the service of his religion and his country. Throughout his life, he worked to unite Muslims in Ethiopia, reject discord and intolerance, and promote the values of tolerance and coexistence among Muslims, Christians, and all religions in his homeland, Ethiopia.
We ask God Almighty to have mercy on him and grant him a place in His vast Paradise, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace.
