The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) held an online lecture, titled "Correcting Stereotypes and Raising Awareness of Islam in Europe", presented by Dr. Sabrina Lei, Director of Tawasul International Centre for Publishing, Research and Dialogue in Rome, Italy, where she addressed the situation of Muslims in Europe and the spread of Islam there.

During the lecture, Lei spoke about her journey to Islam, saying that she had been interested in the religion before converting and had continuously read about it, learning its teachings—which she considered essential and important for her.

Regarding the negative stereotypes held by some in Europe about Islam, she affirmed that some Europeans struggle to understand Islam due to the language barrier and difficulties in grasping its traditions and values. Nevertheless, the Muslim community in Europe has grown significantly.

Speaking about her efforts to promote a true image of Islam, she said she had worked on translating several Islamic books to help Europeans study and better understand the religion.

Sharing her personal view of Islam, she said: “The teachings of Islam aim to connect creation with their Creator, and its message is a continuation of the other divine religions.”

On the relationship between Islam and Europe, she noted that there is a deep connection between the achievements of Muslim scholars and philosophers and those of Western scientists.

She pointed out that fasting is a practice shared by many religions, including Islam and Christianity, and that all religions encourage peace and tolerance. Lei also said that she embraced Islam during the month of Ramadan.

She concluded by stressing the importance of peace and dialogue between civilisations and the need to strengthen tolerance among people.
