TWMCC Participates in “Citizenship, Identity, and Shared Values of Coexistence” Conference in Abu Dhabi

The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) is taking part at “Citizenship, Identity, and Shared Values of Coexistence” conference, held in Abu Dhabi on 15-16 April.


The event, which brings together a distinguished group of scholars and experts from around the world, is part of the university’s broader efforts to support the growth of cultural, intellectual and philosophical development in the UAE.


The conference features three main sessions, the first: “Citizenship and Belonging: Philosophical Approaches and Value Dimensions,” addresses several working papers on national identity, the value of citizenship, community solidarity, mutual understanding and recognition, peace, and the sustainable development of values.


The second session: “Citizenship in Contemporary Reality,” covers themes such as the debate between authenticity and modernisation, religious fundamentalism and partisanship, globalisation and its impact on national identity, cultural and ethnic pluralism, and citizenship: from knowledge to behaviour.


The third session: “Citizenship and the Challenges of the Future: Opportunities and Hopes,” presents four working papers on initiatives, policies, socialisation and its impact on citizenship education: experiences and models, role of the religious institution in promoting the values ​​of citizenship and belonging, and citizenship in the digital space: problems and challenges.
