The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) held a Ramadan online lecture, titled ‘Ramadan and the Muslim Woman: A Month of Worship, Strength, and Serenity’ presented by Arrafa Jumua Suleiman, Women's Secretary of the South Sudan Islamic Council, within the TWMCC's lecture series.

Arrafa Jumua Suleiman discussed the role of Muslim women in Ramadan and the need to balance their family responsibilities with their worship, stressing that a woman's reward is multiplied when her efforts in caring for her family and serving her home are counted as acts of worship, she also emphasising the importance of commitment to prayer and night prayers, encouraging children to read the Qur’an and instilling religious values in them.

She also touched on the economic role of women in managing the family budget during Ramadan, warning against extravagant food preparation, and emphasising the importance of giving charity and feeding the people in need as one of the main purposes of fasting.

She recommended teaching children the rules of fasting and food etiquette, and accustoming them to participate in the preparation of Iftar and Suhoor meals, which enhances their sense of responsibility.

The Women's Secretary of the South Sudan Islamic Council concluded by stressing the need to use Ramadan to promote family ties, repentance, and forgiveness, noting that the holy month is a great opportunity for Muslim women to draw closer to God and build a more cohesive and faithful society.
