The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) extends its deepest condolences with great sorrow and heartfelt sympathy on the passing of Professor Dr. Mohamed Al-Mahrasawy, former President of Al-Azhar University, who passed away after a distinguished academic and intellectual journey dedicated to serving Islam and Muslims, and to strengthening Al-Azhar’s role as a beacon of moderation and balance.
HE Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of TWMCC, mourned the loss, stating:
"The late professor embodied the model of a true scholar of Al-Azhar —combining knowledge and action, diligence and humility. He played an influential role in building bridges of dialogue and promoting the values of tolerance and intellectual openness. His loss is a great one for the academic and religious community, for Al-Azhar, and for all who admired him across the Islamic world."
TWMCC extended its sincere condolences to his honourable family, the leadership of Al-Azhar, Al-Azhar University, and the entire Muslim Ummah—praying that Almighty Allah grant him His boundless mercy, elevate him to the highest place in Paradise, and bestow patience and solace upon his loved ones.
