Serbian President Dispatches Culture Minister to Visit Islamic Mashikhat and Oversee Restoration of Historic Mosque in Novi Pazar

In a gesture reflecting the Serbian state's commitment to promoting coexistence and preserving cultural and religious heritage, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, today dispatched the Minister of Culture, Mr. Nikola Slakovic, on an official visit to the Islamic Mashikhat in Novi Pazar. He was received by the esteemed head of the Islamic Mashikhat, Sheikh Molodović.​


During the visit, the Serbian minister expressed 'the government's pride in the historic relations it shares with Muslim citizens in the country,' emphasising that 'the protection of Islamic heritage is an integral part of the state's responsibility towards all its constituents.'


Subsequently, Sheikh Molodović escorted Minister Slaković on a tour of the historic mosque, which is over 500 years old and stands as a prominent symbol of Islamic identity in the Sandžak region. The delegation reviewed the details of the restoration plan, directly funded by the Serbian state with an allocation of €700,000 and supervised by the Ministry of Culture, following specific directives from President Vučić.​

At the conclusion of the visit, commemorative photos were taken in front of the mosque, attended by representatives of the Muslim community and local dignitaries, in an atmosphere marked by mutual respect and appreciation.
