The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) held a Ramadan online lecture, titled ‘Ramadan is the Month of Reform and Change’ presented by Sheikh Dr Faid Mohammed Said, Secretary General and Imam of the Commission of Fatwa and Sharia Affairs at Islamic Cultural Center in London, within the Council's Ramadan series of lectures.

Sheikh Faid began his talk by emphasising that Ramadan is the only month that is mentioned in the Holy Qur'an and the month in which the Qur'an was revealed, citing the words: 'The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind.’

He answered a question asked by many: ‘What will I get in Ramadan?’, pointing out that the answer lies in the Almighty saying: 'Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves'  (Al-Ra'd: 11), stressing that Ramadan is a great opportunity for change and self-reformation. He cited the story of Asiya bint Muzahim, Pharaoh's wife, who, despite being in a corrupt environment, remained steadfast in her faith, referring to the Prophet's hadith: 'Sufficient for you among the women of mankind are Mariam bint 'Imran, Khadijah bint Khuwailid, Fatimah bint Muhammad and Asiya the Pharaoh's wife.'

Sheikh Faid also stressed the importance of correct prayer and adherence to it, citing the Prophet's hadith when he saw a man praying quickly and said: ‘Go back and pray, you have not prayed.’ He explained that the acceptance of prayer is reflected in the Muslim's behaviour and personality, citing the Almighty saying: 'and perform the prayer. The prayer prevents indecency and abomination' (Al-Ankabut: 45).

He also emphasised that a true Muslim is a source of peace, citing the Prophet's words: 'A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands the Muslims are safe.' He also spoke about the importance of womb ties, citing the Prophet's words: ‘The best of you is he who is best to his family,’ he said, calling for strengthening family ties and friendships within the family.
