The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) held an online lecture, titled 'Muslim Communities in Ireland: Freedom of Belief and Coexistence', presented by Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri, Chair of the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council, as part of the TWMCC's series of lectures that shed light on the conditions of Muslims around the world.

Dr Al-Qadri discussed the unique characteristics of the Muslim community in Ireland, explaining that the Islamic presence in Ireland dates back to the 1970s and 1980s, initially limited to prominent Imams. He pointed out that Ireland maintains close relations with the Islamic world

Al-Qadri stressed that the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council implements initiatives to promote dialogue and peaceful coexistence, noting that Muslims in Ireland integrate into society, celebrate holidays in public parks, and most of them work in the medical and information technology sectors.

He stressed the importance of investing in qualified religious leaders to ensure an informed representation of Islam, expressing his hope for achieving global peace.
