TWMCC Holds “Influence of Islam in Southeast Asia” Online Lecture

he World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) held an online lecture, titled “The Influence of Islam in Southeast Asia” presented by Dr. Khairudin Aljunied, Professor of Islamic and intellectual history of Southeast Asia, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, as part of the TWMCC’s Lecture Series.


Dr. Aljunied underscored that Muslims in Southeast Asia face difficulty in adhering to their Islamic identity.


He pointed out that the impact of cultural exchange is reflected in the presence of many temples and mosque-like buildings in the region.


He stressed the importance of technology in enhancing communication between Muslims and non-Muslims, as Muslims now interact significantly through social media platforms.


He clarified that the Islamic religion calls for dialogue and reflects the values ​​of tolerance, which boosts opportunities for coexistence and understanding between different cultures in Southeast Asia.


TWMCC is an international non-governmental organisation that functions as a think tank. It supports Muslim community organisations and associations by helping them improve their operations, collaborate effectively, and adopt innovative approaches.
