The World Muslim Communities Council held an online lecture, titled "Religious Tolerance and Modernisation: The Case of the United Arab Emirates", presented by Wei Dedong, Professor of Philosophy and Director of the International Centre for Buddhist Studies at Renmin University of China, within the Council's series of lectures.

During the lecture, Dedong praised the UAE's significant cultural renaissance and religious tolerance, stating that the UAE is experiencing a cultural revival, embracing tolerance and allowing freedom of belief and worship, which promotes economic growth.

Moreover, he lauded the freedom of religious practice granted to non-Muslims in the UAE, affirming that Islamic teachings are a fundamental part of the UAE's civilisation.

Wei Dedong attributed the UAE's remarkable achievements in civility, interfaith tolerance, and inclusive education to these efforts and policies.

"The Chinese community is a key part of the UAE's cultural diversity," he noted.

The professor also commended the UAE's establishment of a Ministry of Tolerance, which sets an example for coexistence and religious tolerance.

TWMCC is an international non-governmental organisation that functions as a think tank. It supports Muslim community organisations and associations by helping them improve their operations, collaborate effectively, and adopt innovative approaches.
