- 2024-Apr-15
The World Muslim Communities Council held an online Ramadan lecture titled "Peaceful Coexistence among Beliefs and Cultures: An Islamic Perspective." Dr. Mahmoud Al-Dabiey, president of the International Peace Organisation for Relief and Human Rights and an international advisor and expert on Muslim communities, presented the lecture as part of TWMCC's Ramadan lecture series.
Dr. Al-Dabiey focused on Islam's emphasis on tolerance and respect for those of other faiths. He highlighted Islam's promotion of dialogue, cooperation, and understanding, contrasting it with the notion of a clash of civilizations. Dr. Al-Dabiey stressed the importance of dialogue in bridging the gap of misunderstanding between Muslims and others in today's world.
He further emphasized the Islamic call for collaboration and unity. Dr. Al-Dabiey directly advocated for cooperation with all people to achieve common ground and societal benefits. Underscoring the principle of respect, Dr. Al-Dabiey stated that Islam instructs Muslims to treat others with dignity. He pointed to the presence of millions of non-Muslims living peacefully in Islamic countries as evidence of Islam's inherent tolerance.
The World Muslim Communities Council is an international non-governmental organization that serves as a think tank. TWMCC supports Muslim community organizations and associations by helping them improve their operations, collaborate more effectively, and adopt innovative approaches.
