Khaleel Abdul Wahab: Islam is Best Solution to Confront Racism

On Thursday, 14 September, 2023, the World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) organised a virtual lecture under the theme “Racial Discrimination in Light of the Islamic Faith”, which featured Sheikh Khaleel Abdul Wahab, Imam of the New Mosque in Guyana, South America, as a speaker.
Sheikh Khaleel Abdul Wahab, Imam of the New Mosque in Guyana, South America said that Satan refused to prostrate to Adam (PBUH), believing that he was superior in creation. This marked the beginning of racism.
Sheikh Abdul Wahab added that Allah, the Almighty, created humans with different colors, shapes, and languages, as mentioned in the Holy Quran.
He emphasised that Allah's preference for humans is based on righteousness (Taqwa), not color, race, or gender, and that the Prophet (peace be upon him) united his companions under the umbrella of the Islamic religion without discrimination.
He stressed that as Muslims, we should be role models for non-Muslims and appear as a united community, noting that Islam provides the best solution for confronting racism.
