TWMCC Participates in the International Conference on Fight Against Islamophobia in Baku, Azerbaijan

The World Muslim Communities Council is participating in the International Conference on Fight Against Islamophobia, held in Baku, Azerbaijan، on the 15th and 16th of March, themed 'Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges.' The World Muslim Communities Council will be represented by the Secretary-General, HE Dr Mohamed Bechari.
The conference is organised by the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC), the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) and the G20 Interfaith Forum.
The main purpose of the conference is to provide an academic discussion platform on the alarming trends targeting Muslims and Muslim-populated countries at international and national levels.
Scholars, experts from international organisations, religious figures and representatives of non-governmental organisations, from 32 countries, headed by Arab countries, will participate in the conference.
Participants will discuss different approaches in the fight against Islamophobia, the manifestation of Islamophobia in some European countries, and Islamophobia in the international media.
The 15th of March was designated as the 'International Day to Combat Islamophobia' on 27-28 November 2020 during the session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), held in Niamey, Niger. In 2022, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 15 March as 'International Day to Combat Islamophobia.'
