The 7th International Conference of Dar Al Ifta has kicked off today, Monday, under the umbrella of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, and the auspices of Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, with the participation of The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC)


The 7th International Conference of Dar Al Ifta seeks to achieve several goals, foremost of which is providing a comprehensive definition of sustainable development, rooting the concept in the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah, and providing examples of sustainable development stipulated in these primary texts of Islam. It also aims to consolidate the values of sustainable development in the modern Islamic world and produce scientific results capable of making valuable contributions to the 17 sustainable development goals


The conference also seeks to highlight the role of fatwa in achieving certain societal goals, such as peace, security and justice at the global level, cooperation and integration at the humanitarian level, building strong institutions, achieving economic goals for sustainable development, especially in supporting national economies, encouraging industry and innovation, eradicating poverty. hunger, unemployment, and achieving prosperity for all people


The conference will dedicate a significant duration to discussing the role of fatwa in achieving the environmental goals of sustainable development, particularly climate change and women's empowerment


Important initiatives and projects are scheduled to emerge from the conference; and will be announced in the closing session on its 2nd day, 18 October, including Announcing the start of the full operation of the ‘Fatwa Pro’ programme, which provides fatwas to Muslims in the West in different languages, by a group of specialised and qualified muftis, who will be assigned to carry out this mission, promptly, providing important fatwas to Muslims in these societies in various areas, as well as protecting Muslims in these societies From extremist or atheistic thoughts, and control the fatwa system


The results of the new and important study prepared by the ‘Global Fatwa Index’, which analyses the relationship between fatwas and sustainable development, will also be announced, under the title: ‘Fatwas of Sustainable Development between Consolidation & Undermining … A Comparison of Fatwas’ State of Egyptian Dar Al Iftaa & Extremist Thought’
