On Thursday April 1, 2021, The World Muslim Communities Council organized a virtual lecture entitled “Islam’s Approach to Preserving Water and Solving Its Problems,” in which Dr. Ahmed Ali Soliman, a member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Egypt, and a researcher in water affairs, spoke via the Council's social media pages.

Dr. Ahmed Ali Sulaiman said that the Qur’an spoke about the water cycle with the utmost accuracy about 1,400 years before Western scholars, explaining that Allah Almighty orders the sun over the seas and oceans, so the water condense after of the water surface being hot, turn it into vapor that rises to the sky, to form cloud. He is stressing for the necessity to to obtain food from seas and ocean, maximizing the benefit from Allah treasures.

Dr. Soliman talked about several aspects of Allah Almighty’s miracle in creating water, preserving it with three mechanisms: by freezing in Arctic and Antarctic; By adding salt to the seas and oceans to protect it from corruption; By preserving fresh, weather in the form of steam, clouds, rain, rivers, or groundwater, by means of continuous movement.

"One of his kindness and miraculousness is that He made the water go in an upright position ten times slower than it ran in a horizontal one, so that the roots of plants and trees would be irrigated, thus the divine miracle in creating water places humanity before its responsibility towards its Creator".

He indicated in his lecture that if we look at the globe, we will find that it consists of 71% water, 29% is dry, with 97% is salt water, and 3% is fresh water represents 3%.  (2% snow and ice in the North and South poles, and 1% of fresh rivers and lakes). All that follow the rules of Allah, who has ensured for all creatures their share of sustenance and water by making people partners in water that no one may monopolize or prevents others from it.

It is noteworthy that the World Muslim Communities Council is an international non-governmental organization, headquartered in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
