H.E. Dr Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC), emphasised the vital role of shared human values in fostering understanding and coexistence among people. He delivered these remarks during an academic symposium organised by the Council in collaboration with Dar El Hadith El Hassania. The event, held as part of the International Book Fair in Rabat, Morocco, was titled: ‘Particularity, Universality, and Shared Human Values: Towards a New Activation of the Value System in Muslim Communities’.

Dr Bechari explained that the principles of justice, compassion, and dignity establish a universal human foundation that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries. He noted that the true challenge lies not in choosing between particularity and universality, but rather in striking a balance between the two. This balance, he argued, is essential for preserving identity whilst actively contributing to a shared human framework, particularly given the rapid transformations occurring across the globe.

Furthermore, he stressed the need to deeply embed these values into educational systems and translate them into tangible, everyday practices. He underscored the importance of elevating moral awareness and developing comprehensive approaches that champion dialogue and openness, which will ultimately help to secure societal stability and promote lasting coexistence.
