Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Welcomes Participants of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Conference

His Eminence Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and President of the Muslim Council of Elders, received the participants of the 36th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs during an official visit attended by HE Professor Dr. Usama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments.


During the meeting, the Grand Imam warmly welcomed the guests, describing them as honored visitors and valued brothers. He expressed his appreciation for their participation in this significant edition of the conference, commending both its theme and organization. 


His Eminence voiced his hope that the conference would produce meaningful recommendations that strengthen religious discourse, confront the challenges of extremism, and offer forward-looking guidance rooted in the principles of divine revelation.


Furthermore, The Grand Imam also reaffirmed Al-Azhar’s enduring role in promoting dialogue, moderation, and peaceful coexistence, while remaining engaged with contemporary knowledge and thoughtfully connecting it to Islamic heritage and present-day realities.


His Eminence listened to contributions from a number of distinguished participants, who in turn benefited from his insights, guidance, and counsel. The meeting reflected the strong scholarly and outreach ties between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and scholars of the Ummah attending the conference. The gathering was also attended by HE Dr. Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of the World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC).
