TWMCC Holds “The First Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah” Online Lecture

The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) organised an online lecture titled “The First Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah,” delivered by Sheikh Sa’dullah Khan, CEO of Islamia College – South Africa. In his lecture, he discussed the virtues of the Hajj season, focusing on the first ten blessed days of Dhul Hijjah, which are considered the greatest days of the year.

Sheikh Sa’dullah explained that among these ten days is the Day of Arafah, the most significant day of the year.

The Hajj pilgrimage is only considered valid if the pilgrim stands on the plain of Arafah on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah in a state of ihram (ritual consecration).

He described this day as the largest annual gathering of faith, where millions of believers congregate in simple garments, standing as equals with no distinction among them.

He noted that for those not performing Hajj, fasting on the Day of Arafah is a highly recommended act of worship.

He cited that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked about this fast, he said it "expiates for the sins of the preceding year and the coming year."

Sheikh Sa’dullah emphasised that the rituals of Hajj reinforce the sanctity of human life, dignity, and property.

They serve as a powerful rejection of racial discrimination and a profound call for equality among all people.

He added that another vital aspect of these days is to draw closer to Allah Almighty through abundant dhikr (remembrance), urging believers to consistently strengthen their connection with Him.

Sheikh Sa’dullah Khan concluded by urging Muslims to make these blessed days a time for increased remembrance of Allah, performing good deeds, drawing nearer to the Divine, and striving for taqwa (piety) and wara’ (scrupulous piety).
