TWMCC Hosts Online Ramadan Lecture: “Ramadan and Inspiring Woman: Cultivating Patience and Gratitude"
- 2025-Apr-07
The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) organised a virtual Ramadan lecture titled “Ramadan, Women's Empowerment and Inspiration – Elevating Patience and Gratitude,” delivered by Dr. Aminata Diallo, Research Professor at the General Lansana Conté University of Conakry, Deputy Director of the ICESCO Chair for Research and Educational Innovation at the same university. The lecture was part of the TWMCC’s lecture series.
Dr. Diallo addressed the balance between women's rights and responsibilities during Ramadan, emphasising that women face challenges in reconciling work, family obligations, and acts of worship—highlighting the need to empower and support them. She also clarified that fasting is a right for women and does not require permission from anyone, and that women have the right to seek religious knowledge, especially regarding rulings that pertain to them.
She further stressed that congregational prayer is not exclusive to men; women have the right to perform it in mosques in accordance with Islamic guidelines. She also pointed to women's right to adequate financial support during Ramadan, the importance of enabling them to perform Umrah when conditions are met, and their right to give charity freely from their own wealth.
At the conclusion of the lecture, Dr. Diallo urged women to seize the opportunity of the holy month to deepen their spirituality and called on society to support them in practising their religious rights without obstacles.
