TWMCC Mourns the Former Mufti of the Republic of Croatia

HE Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, the World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) Chairman, and HE Dr Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of TWMCC, offered their deepest condolences and sincere sympathy on the passing of His Eminence Mufti Sevko Omerbasic, the Former Head of Islamic Community in Croatia, who passed away on Thursday morning, October 31, 2024, after a long journey of giving and commitment in serving Islam and Muslims in Croatia, and Balkans.
The Chairman and Secretary-General of TWMCC said that Mufti Omerbasic, may God have mercy on him, was a beacon of knowledge and leadership, who dedicated his life to spreading the values of peace and tolerance, and played a prominent role in strengthening the Islamic identity and consolidating the presence of Muslims in the Balkans region. His Eminence also left an honourable legacy represented by the establishment of Islamic institutions and cultural centres, and His Eminence had a major humanitarian role in supporting refugees during the aggression against Croatia and Bosnia, which reflects his dedication to the values of justice and peace. They prayed to God Almighty to bestow His vast mercy upon him and to grant him a place in His spacious gardens, and to inspire his family and relatives with patience and solace.
TWMCC stressed that the passing of Mufti Omerbasic is a great loss, and his impact will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew him and his students.
