The World Muslim Communities Council delegation participated in a memorial ceremony in New Zealand, organised by Al Noor Mosque, to honour the victims of the Christchurch attack, in the presence of New Zealand Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon.

The ceremony was commenced by reciting verses from the Holy Quran, after which Maha Jalal, President of “March 15th” Association, thanked all attendees for showing their support for this commemoration.

A number of survivors and family members of victims, who were killed in the Christchurch attacks, gathered at Al Noor Mosque to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the attack.

During the ceremony, New Zealand PM, Christopher Luxon, delivered a speech in which he expressed strong sympathy for the families of the victims.

The ceremony concluded with an “Iftar” gathering on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the sacred month of the Muslim community.

This year’s anniversary of the Christchurch attack is observed -for the first time- on Friday during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

TWMCC is an international non-governmental organisation that functions as a think tank. It supports Muslim community organisations and associations by helping them improve their operations, collaborate effectively, and adopt innovative approaches.
