The Egyptian President's Adviser on Religious Affairs: Terrorist Currents Consider the Homeland as a Handful of Dust

  • 2023-Apr-26

On Tuesday, 4 April 2023, The World Muslim Communities Council organised a virtual lecture by His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Usama Al-Azhary, the Egyptian President's Adviser on Religious Affairs, as part of the series of Ramadan lectures organised by TWMCC under the title 'Immunisation of Muslim Youth from Extremism and Hatred'

His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Usama Al-Azhary, the Egyptian President's Adviser on Religious Affairs, said that reckless enthusiasm is one of the most prominent features that led to extremist discourse, which is far from the purposes of the Islamic Law

Al-Azhary added that the tools for understanding Islamic Law are specific and carefully chosen, and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif summed it up in twelve subjects

The Egyptian President's Adviser on Religious Affairs explained that one of the oddities of the currents is that they have created alternative ideas to the homeland, and considered the homeland as a handful of dust, adding that the  phenomenon of terrorism, claims affiliation with religion and collides with reality

Al-Azhary pointed out that terrorist groups create an inhumane, rude, and destructive person, while Islam calls for humanity, stressing that the currents of extremism stem from 7 ideas, and those ideas start with 'takfir'

The Egyptian President's Adviser on Religious Affairs said that he summarised the teaching of Islamic sciences in 5 words: 'Universe respect, honouring the human being, preserving and increasing the homelands, and increasing faith'

TWMCC is an international non-governmental organisation, established on 8 May 2018 in Abu Dhabi. It includes more than 900 Islamic organisations and institutions from 142 countries.
