Muslim Communities Became a Major Engine in Advancing Economic Prosperity: TWMCC Secretary General
- 2023-Apr-19
The World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) has held a virtual lecture, entitled ‘Introduction to Establishment of Jurisprudence of Muslim Minorities', by HE Dr Mohamed Bechari, Secretary-General of TWMCC, within Ramadan lecture series
HE Dr Bechari has said that Muslim communities are beginning to represent a cornerstone among their societies’ components, becoming a major engine in advancing economic, political and cultural prosperity
He added that the individual in Muslim communities in Western countries is considered a legal entity; who enjoys civil, political and other rights, especially that the Western countries offer legal equality among members of society
He explained that Muslim communities are facing a dangerous dilemma; the difficulty of reconciling the requirements of citizenship to faith issues, affirming the need for the Islamic mind to move within the recent developments, in order to find solutions that facilitate the presence of Muslim communities in Western societies
He stressed that Muslims are considered ethnic minorities in multi-ethnic societies, which is a reality that must be dealt with, pointing out that the eastern and western expansions and conquests have led to the entry of people from many races and different ages to Islam, as a result of the external relations of the jurists.
He affirmed that some countries have formed alliances and made treaties with Muslims, stressing the need for the Islamic religion to emulate the developments and answer the raised new questions
TWMCC is an international non-governmental organisation, established on 8 May 2018 in Abu Dhabi. It includes more than 900 Islamic organisations and institutions from 142 countries. It is a think tank to help organisations and associations operating in Muslim communities, renew their thinking, improve their performance, and coordinate its joint work
